Kino Concept

Kino Digital is the owner and operator of the popular cinema and café-bar venues in Hawkhurst, Kent and Rye, East Sussex. In May 2017 Kino acquired Shortwave Cinema in Bermondsey Square, London SE1 to – the name will shortly change to Kino Bermondsey.

The Kino concept is to provide the most comfortable, convivial and stylish venue in which to enjoy the best available cinema experience.

Kino Hawkhurst has been in operation since 2006, and, at its conception, was the first purely digital cinema in the UK. Kino Hawkhurst is coveted by its customers and has firmly established itself as a leading “boutique” entertainment venue that last year attracted over 60,000 people from across Kent and East Sussex, many of whom have a multiplex cinema much closer to home.

Kino Rye opened in January 2015 and, as well as being loved by everyone who steps through its doors, has already picked up several design awards, including a prestigious RIBA regional award.

Kino Hawkhurst is open daily from 9.00am with films showing from 10.00am. Kino Rye is open from 12 noon Monday – Friday and 10.30am at weekends. Both venues have licensed cafe-bars that serve delicious food, coffee, cakes, wines and beers throughout the day.

Kino’s cinema programme includes the latest blockbusters, kids’ movies, foreign-language films, documentaries and live events broadcast via satellite from world-class venues that include the National Theatre (NT Live), the Royal Opera House (Opera & Ballet), Royal Shakespeare Company Stratford-Upon-Avon, The Globe and the O2.

Kino Digital is actively searching for new sites to expand its concept. Please email if you know of a building or location that could be home to the next Kino!
